Dr Nicoletta Policek is Associate Professor in Policing and Criminology and Head of the Graduate School at the University of Cumbria, UK. Nicoletta’s specialisms are to be summarised in Human Rights legislation and Human Rights violations; migration studies; gender and sexuality studies; war, crimes against humanity and genocide; sex work; HIV/AIDS and public health; social impact of epidemics and emergencies. James has held management roles within the Scottish voluntary sector for over twenty years; the vast majority of which has been with organisations focussed upon HIV prevention and care, gay men’s sexual health promotion, youth work, and LGBT inclusion. He was invited to join the board of HIV Scotland in 2016 as a long-term ally and professional supporter of the organisation. Read more
Agnes has an MA in International Management and a Post Grad. Diploma in Renewable Energy Development. Experience gained from director roles has enhanced her strategic and governance perceptiveness. She finds being part of the HIV Scotland board of directors inspiring, and likes helping to accomplish the vision, mission and values of the organisation. Read more
Christopher is currently training to be a Clinical Psychologist with Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, whilst completing a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Essex. His thesis is focused on exploring the psychological impact of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) use in low risk gay and bisexual men, including those who have HIV health anxiety. He is also a trainee Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist and is completing a Diploma in Clinical Sexology. Read more
Prior to joining the HIV Scotland Board, Brian served on the Trustees Board of Waverley Care for over 10 years. He is also a founder member of the UKCAB (a community group of HIV activists in the UK). Read more
Passionate about Equality, Diversity and eradicating the stigma often associated living with HIV, Alan has worked with a number of Charities including; LGBT Youth Scotland, Gay Men’s Health and The LGBT Centre for Health and Wellbeing. Alan now operates a successful award winning consultancy working in partnership with Registered Charities throughout the UK sourcing high calibre candidates with a key strength in Income Generation and CEO / Board Level. After beginning in finance, Lorna has spent the last 10 years working in social care, primarily alongside people living with disabilities. She has experience in various roles including management focused on developing autonomy of team members, being a facilitator of training and having hands on experience of direct support, working alongside people to enable them to live the life they choose. Dr Cairney is the Founder and Managing Director of First Period, addressing reproductive health challenges for young women in Scotland, Ghana, Zambia, Tanzania, Germany, and Namibia. Read more
