Umais is Programmes Lead, a new role that will deliver successful programmes to improve the wellbeing of people living with and affected by HIV – including HIV Scotland: Wellbeing, HIV Self Test Scotland and Fast-Track Cities.

Umais brings with him over 7-years of experience in private and voluntary sector organisations. Most recently he has completed his Masters, in which he analysed the implementation of Scotland’s policy on LGBTQI inclusive education in schools, using the participatory governance approach. Prior to arriving in Scotland, he held the role of Programme Manager of the HIV Service at Dareech Health Society in Pakistan, in partnership with United Nation's Development Programme and Save the Children. He was responsible for managing a project with a $1million budget, leading on programmes that included clinical, support and counselling services. He brings experience of government influencing, developing training resources and managing senior partnerships with international bodies.
