Principle Researcher: Jeffrey Hirono, Policy & Research Manager. HIV Scotland. Email: [email protected]

You are invited to take part in an anonymous and confidential survey about the sexual, physical and mental health experiences of people living with HIV and PrEP users during Scotland’s COVID-19 lockdown. HIV Scotland wants to assess overall sexual, physical and mental health, and to gain a better understanding of health risks and behaviours during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Please read the information below about the study participation.

Do I have to take part?

Your participation in this anonymous online survey is voluntary and completely confidential. You can stop at any time if you want to, without giving a reason. Any cis men, trans and non-binary people living in Scotland aged 18 or older is welcome to take part. You can leave or withdraw from the study at any time, without giving a reason. Incomplete surveys will be excluded from the analysis.

What will happen if I decide to take part?

If you decide to take part in this anonymous questionnaire, you will be asked to tick a box below to indicate that you are happy for us to use your responses. The questionnaire then asks you a few questions about you (age, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc), and questions about your sexual behaviour, mental health, physical health, and access and utilisation of health services since the current outbreak of the novel coronavirus. It usually takes about 20 minutes to complete this questionnaire.

At the end, there is an option to enter a prize draw worth £100 - just enter an email address so that we can contact the winner. (Email addresses are stored in a separate database, so they aren’t linked to the questionnaire).

Are there any benefits or risks in taking part?

We do not expect people to experience any harm or risk from completing this anonymous questionnaire. Your responses will be stored on secure computers at HIV Scotland, and if you choose to provide your email address this will be stored separately. Responses to this questionnaire will help to develop the best sexual, health and mental health services during COVID-19.

Whom can I contact if I have any questions?

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Jeffrey Hirono, Policy & Research Manager, at [email protected].
