Dr Nicoletta Policek is Associate Professor in Policing and Criminology and Head of the Graduate School at the University of Cumbria, UK. 

Nicoletta’s specialisms are to be summarised in Human Rights legislation and Human Rights violations; migration studies; gender and sexuality studies; war, crimes against humanity and genocide; sex work; HIV/AIDS and public health; social impact of epidemics and emergencies. Nicoletta is a skilled facilitator with particular expertise in engaging with and involving difficult to reach communities in change processes.

Nicoletta has been combining a career in academia with her passion for social justice and human rights. At present she a member of Community Justice Scotland’s Academic Advisory Group and she is also sits on the Board of Trustees at Recovering Justice.

Her main strengths: Extensive knowledge of the voluntary sector both at national and international level; good consultation and written skills applied in researching and drafting reports and publications; attention to details and ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines. Knowledge of several European language at native speaker level.

When she not busy taking over from Mary Poppins, Nicoletta can be found hiking in the Dolomites or lazily strolling in Venice in the company of her beloved handbags.
