HIV Scotland is delighted to have appointed James Stewart as the Chair of the HIV Services: Designing the Future working group. This innovative new programme will bring together forward-thinking, creative people to design the HIV services of the future – from a blank sheet of paper!

James will chair a diverse working group of people living with HIV, clinicians, public health experts, healthcare workers, policy staff and third sector organisations as we imagine a future that embraces digital and ensures choice is at the heart of service provision.

COVID-19 has given us the opportunity to think differently about how services are run, integrating digital solutions, outreach and offering dedicated support to those that need it most.

James said: “I bring lived experience of various life challenges, not least living with HIV, and want to play my part in moulding something exciting for the future of HIV care.

“This project is a fresh opportunity to bring together key players in the delivery of HIV services in Scotland. But I want to make sure we also hear and act on the diverse voices of those living with HIV, today. What are our experiences? Our needs? Our hopes?

“In my working life I have experience in industry, Christian ministry, and entertainment. Scotland is home, having lived here since 2008.”
