Why not challenge yourself to complete a marathon (26.2 miles) to stay active? Use your recommended lockdown exercise time to walk a mile or so a day during May. 

Post about your progress each day on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, tag @HIVScotland and use the hashtag #MayMarathon to bring us all together! Share a link to your fundraising page each time asking friends and family to donate! See if you can raise a minimum of £26 (£1 per mile). Even better, get the rest of your household to join in and tag two other people to take on this challenge too.
At the end of May, we are hosting virtual social to wrap it all up! There will be a mystery prize for the person who raises the most money! Together, we’ll raise hundreds, maybe even thousands, to help people who need our support in Scotland today.

  1. Think about why it is you want to do the challenge, what the cause means to you etc. We hope that physical challenges like this help all of us maximise our time spent outdoors (or in our gardens, or even indoors, space-provided!) in order to feel healthy and good about ourselves and others. 

  2. We aren't all athletes, and some people spend more time running or walking than others. That's ok! Here are some NHS tips about how to effectively beginning running, even if you haven't in a long time. People are increasingly tracking/sharing their progress using apps like Strava.
  1. Share your Fundraising Link on the Social Media sites you use like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, asking friends, family and colleagues to donate to your cause and letting them know why they should. 

  2. Suggest these people who support your fundraising that they could also take part, or raise funds in another way!

  3. To stay motivated, we encourage frequent sharing of pictures and updates from your challenge as it unfolds. This helps document it for yourself and your supporters, and draws attention to it. Tag us (@HIVScotland) when you do, and use the hashtag #MayMarathon.
